Recently, Gokseong-gun held a residents' briefing session on the Dongaksan ecological corridor (habitat) restoration project. At this event, Gokseong-gun explained the necessity and importance of the project to the attendees and requested their interest for wise use.
This project is scheduled to be completed by December 2022 around Chungui Park in Gokseong-eup.
The area is a point connecting Dongaksan Mountain and the Seomjin River, with very high ecological value as it is home to endangered species such as otters, leopard cats, flying squirrels, and small dragonflies. Through this project, the county will restore and create ecological passages, ecological forests, and biological habitats.
Gokseong-gun selected the basic and detailed design service provider for this project through a design competition. Since the urban ecological corridor project is important, various submissions were evaluated to select the most suitable model.
Additionally, the urban ecological corridor project will be linked with the 'Seomjin River Bedroom Wetland Damage Restoration Project' and utilized as an ecotourism resource.
