Yeosu City Dream Start 'Precious Eye Protector Glasses Support'
Agreement with 3 Local Optical Shops... Full Vision Correction Sponsorship for 50 Case-Managed Children
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Yeosu City Dream Start announced on the 20th that since April, it has been conducting the ‘Precious Eye Protector Glasses Support’ program for 50 children under integrated case management.
According to the city, Yeosu City and three optical shops belonging to the Yeosu Optical Association of the Jeollanam-do Branch of the Korea Opticians Association have signed an agreement to fully sponsor customized glasses necessary for vision correction at the optical shops.
The city first selects children with ‘vision impairment’ through examinations conducted at screening institutions designated by the city among school-age children in Dream Start, then guides the recipients to the nearest contracted optical shops to their residence to support the production of customized glasses.
Through this project, case-managed children are receiving timely vision correction to prevent vision deterioration, reducing the economic burden on families, which has received positive responses.
The representative of the optical shop participating in the sponsorship said, “I feel rewarded to contribute to establishing a culture of sharing in the local community by helping Dream Start care children grow up healthily,” and added, “We will actively participate in activities to help children from low-income families in the future.”
