Assemblyman Lee Byung-hoon: "Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism's Full Survey on National Art Troupe's External Activities Stalled"
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] It has been revealed that the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, which launched a full-scale survey in March to check the service status of members of national art organizations under its jurisdiction, has not yet compiled the results even after eight months.
According to Assemblyman Lee Byung-hoon (Democratic Party of Korea, Gwangju Dong-gu Nam-gu Eul) on the 20th, during the period when COVID-19 cases surged last March, members of the National Ballet were disciplined for overseas travel and private lectures during their self-quarantine period.
In response, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism launched a large-scale full survey on external activities such as private academy lectures of employees belonging to 17 affiliated institutions and organizations, including the National Ballet, National Opera Company, and National Gugak Center.
On March 7, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism sent an official letter regarding the full survey to the relevant institutions, stating that the results should be submitted by the 13th of the same month.
However, contrary to the announcement of the large-scale full survey, the Ministry has not compiled the results even after eight months, and responded to Assemblyman Lee Byung-hoon’s office’s request for the “full survey result report” that no results have yet been produced.
Regarding the reason for not compiling the results so far, the Ministry explained that “some institutions have not yet completed their internal investigations, so the results have not been compiled,” according to Assemblyman Lee’s explanation.

Assemblyman Lee said, “The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, which promised to promptly prepare a solution when announcing the full survey, has not properly compiled even a single result report in seven months,” adding, “It seems they just announced the full survey to avoid immediate trouble and are now ignoring it as interest fades.”
