Seosinwon, Chairman of the Barugesalgi Movement Gangseo-gu Council, Receives Seoul Gangseo-gu Resident Award
Selection of Recipients for the 24th Gangseo District Residents' Award... 9 Selected in 5 Categories Including Community Development, Resident Harmony Service, and Environmental Protection
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gangseo-gu, Seoul (Mayor Noh Hyun-song) held the ‘24th Gangseo Citizen Award’ ceremony at 4 p.m. on the 19th in the large conference room of the district office.
The Gangseo Citizen Award is given to residents who have devoted themselves with exceptional passion to the development of the local community in five categories: ▲community development ▲citizen harmony and volunteerism ▲environmental protection ▲cultural and sports development ▲public morals.
This year, a total of nine recipients were awarded, with the grand prize going to Shinwon Seo, chairman of the Gangseo-gu Council of the Barun Living Movement.
Chairman Seo was highly praised for his dedication to establishing basic order through campaigns such as traffic order compliance and the national land cleanliness movement.
He also set an example by contributing to overcoming the COVID-19 crisis through quarantine activities in vulnerable areas during the local community’s COVID-19 spread risk.
In the community development category, Bukyung Kang was recognized for her work as a resident autonomy committee member in Hwagok 1-dong, operating the ‘Clean Our Neighborhood File’ and hosting the ‘Big Neighborhood Small Concert’ to create a vibrant community. Hyungshik Jin was acknowledged for his contributions to community development as the director of the Nuri Disabled Independent Living Center, creating jobs for people with disabilities.
In the citizen harmony and volunteerism category, Junbok Jang was selected for his wide-ranging volunteer activities, including support for elderly living alone, as vice chairman of the Hwagokbon-dong Resident Autonomy Committee. Byungin Choi was chosen for his exemplary leadership in creating a warm and safe community through consistent crime prevention patrols as a member of the Barun Living Council in Banghwa 1-dong.
In the environmental protection category, Sangcheol Kim, chairman of the Saemaul Leaders Gangseo-gu Council, was selected for contributing to improving the housing environment of vulnerable groups through home repair projects and actively participating in resource recycling collection projects, thereby promoting resource circulation.
In the cultural and sports development category, Jusik Kim was recognized for his contributions as the senior vice chairman of the Gangseo-gu Sports Council, actively participating in various sports events centered on the Gangseo-gu Badminton Club, promoting the activation and expansion of community sports.
In the public morals category, Kyungsang Kim, head of the Gangseo branch of the Disabled Craftsmen Association, was honored for supporting the independent living of marginalized groups despite difficulties caused by Agent Orange damage. Kyungja Jang, president of the Gangseo-gu Tongjang Council, was recognized for fostering filial piety through volunteer work for marginalized elderly and discovering welfare blind spots.
