Baby Listed on 'Danggeun Market' Separated from Single Mother and Admitted to Jeju Childcare Facility
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Young-eun] The baby of a woman in her 20s from Jeju, who posted a message about adopting out her newborn on the secondhand goods trading app 'Danggeun Market,' was admitted to a child care facility in Jeju on the 19th.
Jeju Province announced on the 20th that single mother A was having difficulty raising the baby on her own, so the baby was moved to a child care facility in the province that day. It was reported that A could not receive help from her parents or the baby's father and felt the economic burden of raising the child as she had no income.
A left a postpartum care center in the province and entered a support center for single mothers, and the 19th, when A and the baby were separated, was the sixth day since the baby was born.
In a police investigation, A claimed she did not know she was pregnant until just before giving birth, and amid the overwhelming situation including postpartum care, she posted on Danggeun Market while consulting with an adoption agency because the adoption process was complicated and took a long time. However, she realized this action was wrong and immediately deleted the post, expressing sincere remorse to the police and others.
Earlier, Danggeun Market stated that although they filter posts through AI filtering and human monitoring whenever sales posts are uploaded, this was the first time a post about selling a baby appeared, so the AI could not filter the post due to lack of learned information.
