Gwangju City, 2021-2025 Comprehensive Food Industry Plan Approved by Government
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 19th that the '2021~2025 Five-Year Comprehensive Plan for the Food Industry' has received final approval from the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs.
The government plans to establish mid- to long-term plans for the installation and operation of production, processing, and distribution facilities in the food industry by region, aiming to improve appropriate self-sufficiency rates and analyze and support facility investment demands.
Through this approval, Gwangju City has met the requirements to receive national funding projects in the food industry sector, such as modernization of the Rice Processing Complex (RPC) facilities, support for rice drying and storage facilities, and the food crop joint management body development project (including education and consulting support, facility and equipment support, and business diversification).
The main contents of the comprehensive plan include ▲ strengthening the production, distribution, and marketing base centered on the Gwangju Integrated Rice Processing Complex (RPC) ▲ establishing production and distribution infrastructure for food crops ▲ enhancing education support for farm organization and expansion, and revitalizing joint brands, aiming to secure competitiveness in the food industry and increase farm income.
To establish the comprehensive food industry plan, since January, Gwangju City has formed and operated a council chaired by Vice Mayor Jo In-cheol of the Culture and Economy Department, composed of the Life Agriculture Division, Agricultural Technology Center, National Agricultural Products Quality Management Service, Gwangju Regional Headquarters of NongHyup and local NongHyup branches, Gwangju Integrated Rice Processing Complex (RPC), farmers' organizations, and field management bodies.
