Minister Kang Kyung-wha to Meet Brother of North Korean Killed Official After 21 Days
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha will hold a private meeting on the 21st with the family of the South Korean official who was shot dead by North Korean forces in the West Sea.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the 19th, Minister Kang is scheduled to meet Lee Rae-jin, the older brother of the slain official, on the 21st.
Minister Kang had previously stated during the National Assembly Foreign Affairs and Unification Committee's audit on the 7th that she would personally meet the bereaved family after receiving related inquiries. She said, "I empathize with the pain of the victim's family both as a government official and as an individual."
Lee Rae-jin is expected to request the government to internationalize the incident and include it in the UN resolution on North Korean human rights. Lee's side has already asked the UN Human Rights Council to investigate the circumstances surrounding his brother's death.

Thomas Ojea Quintana, the UN Special Rapporteur on North Korean human rights, is scheduled to submit a report including this fatal incident to the UN General Assembly on the 23rd.
