195 Overseas Construction Workers from 13 Countries Infected with COVID-19... Plan to Expand Non-Face-to-Face Medical Treatment and Consultation
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] It has been revealed that about 200 overseas construction workers have been infected with the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
The Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters (CDSCH) announced at a regular briefing on the 18th that as of the 16th, 195 overseas construction workers from 13 countries tested positive for COVID-19. As of July, the total number of Korean overseas construction workers was 9,354 across 92 countries.
In response to COVID-19 infections among overseas construction workers, the government has been providing non-face-to-face medical treatment and consultation services through domestic hospitals for overseas workers since May, and plans to expand the service, currently available in 85 countries, to more countries.

The CDSCH stated, "We will faithfully implement and continue to support quarantine measures through the public-private joint task force (TF)," and explained that they will assist companies wishing to directly inspect quarantine conditions at overseas construction sites by dispatching private medical personnel.
