GS Retail Supports Medical Expenses for Adopted Animals
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Seung-jin] GS Retail is partnering with Animal Freedom Solidarity and Petsbee starting from the 19th to launch an abandoned animal adoption campaign under the catchphrase "Become a Beloved Family Member."
The campaign supports the adoption of 30 companion animals rescued and cared for by Animal Freedom Solidarity, targeting approximately 20,000 GS Retail employees and GS25 franchise owners.
Households adopting abandoned animals will receive a starter kit worth about 100,000 KRW from Petsbee, a specialty pet supplies mall, including vitamins, shampoo, and pet food, while GS Retail will provide 50,000 KRW to cover veterinary expenses.
In the era of 10 million companion animals, GS Retail has been engaged in volunteer care activities for abandoned animals since 2017 and launched the specialized volunteer group "GS Pet Lover" in 2019. However, due to COVID-19 making on-site volunteer care difficult, this non-face-to-face campaign was planned.
