Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) held the 25th Jungnang-gu Residents' Awards Ceremony at 7 p.m. on the 17th at Yongma Waterfall Park. The awardees included Jang Sun-yeol for the Volunteer Award, Han Mi-soon for the Filial Piety Award, Seo Young-hee for the Model Family Award, and the Jungnang-gu Pharmaceutical Association (organization) for the Special Award.

This awards ceremony honors residents or organizations who have lived in Jungnang-gu for more than three years and contributed to community harmony and regional development in various fields.
The award categories include Volunteer Award, Filial Piety Award, Model Family Award, and Special Award. After fair and objective evaluation, one final winner (or organization) was selected and awarded in each category.
Notably, this year’s selection process was meaningful as it thoroughly considered document reviews by the merit screening committee, on-site inspections, and residents’ opinions.
The winners by category are: Volunteer Award - Jang Sun-yeol, Chairperson of the Jungnang-gu Council of the National Unification Advisory Council; Filial Piety Award - Han Mi-soon; Model Family Award - Seo Young-hee; Special Award - Jungnang-gu Pharmacists Association (organization).
Looking at the winners by category, Jang Sun-yeol, selected for the Volunteer Award and chairperson of the Jungnang-gu Council of the National Unification Advisory Council, has lived in Jungnang-gu for 34 years and has led efforts to help vulnerable neighbors through activities such as donating 500 masks during COVID-19 and supporting about 100 low-income and North Korean defectors’ households.
Han Mi-soon, recipient of the Filial Piety Award, is known for her deep filial devotion, having cared for her father-in-law for over a year until his passing after he suffered a stroke more than ten years ago, and for taking care of her mother-in-law who has been battling Parkinson’s disease and dementia for the past five years. Her devoted care for her physically challenged in-laws received high praise.
Seo Young-hee, selected for the Model Family Award, lives with four generations including her son and grandson in an apartment in Sinnae-dong and holds weekly family meetings, serving as a role model for others.
