Both the baby and the mother are reported to be safe, and the police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the case.
On the 17th, the Jeju Western Police Station announced that they had located the woman who posted the "36-week-old baby for adoption" message on the secondhand trading app Danggeun Market.
Earlier, on the 16th, a post titled "Adopting a baby. 36 weeks old" was uploaded in the Jeju Seogwipo City category of the application. The poster attached two photos of the baby and reportedly set the price at 200,000 won.
The post sparked public outrage among users, and screenshots quickly spread across local online communities and mom cafes, becoming a hot topic in no time.
After receiving a report, the police tracked the IP address and succeeded in identifying the whereabouts of the woman, estimated to be in her 20s, who posted the message.
The woman and the baby, residing somewhere in Seogwipo City, Jeju, are fortunately confirmed to be safe. It is known that the woman gave birth to the baby on the 14th.
