[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Seo Daeseok) has been selected as the 2nd operator of the Gwangju Urban Railway Corporation’s ‘Nongseong Station Youth Startup Platform.’
Seo-gu announced on the 16th that it held a business agreement ceremony with the Gwangju Urban Railway Corporation on the 15th.
The Youth Startup Platform is one of the collaborative idea projects for job creation in Gwangju City during the 7th local government administration.
It is a space opened in November 2018 at Nongseong Station on Gwangju Subway Line 1 by Gwangju City and the Gwangju Urban Railway Corporation to support youth startups and job creation.
Through this agreement, the Gwangju Urban Railway Corporation will provide the Youth Startup Platform space (approximately 248.3㎡ with 11 offices) to Seo-gu free of charge, and Seo-gu will utilize this space to promote youth employment and startup support projects.
Seo-gu plans to newly organize the space, which has so far been used only as a residence space for young entrepreneurs, into a youth startup cafe, prototype shooting studio, study and business rooms, multipurpose conference rooms, and offices for young entrepreneurs to spread youth startup culture.
In particular, experts will be stationed at the youth startup cafe to provide various startup information and employment and startup counseling services.
Additionally, systematic support will be provided so that youth can easily challenge startups, successfully start businesses, and settle down through basic startup education, operation of specialized startup counseling desks, and linkage with related organizations.

A Seo-gu official said, “The employment and startup situation for youth is more difficult than ever due to COVID-19,” and added, “We will collaborate with the Gwangju Urban Railway Corporation to establish the Youth Startup Platform as the optimal space for youth startups and provide full support for the successful employment and startup of local youth by linking with the job cafe Cheongchun Balsan Workshop.”
