[2020 National Audit] Kwon Young-se "Yongsan May Become 'International Residential District' Instead of 'International Business District'"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] Kwon Young-se, a member of the People Power Party, opposed the plan to supply 10,000 housing units on the Yongsan Maintenance Depot site, stating that "if 10,000 units are supplied, it will become an international residential district rather than an international business district."
On the 16th, Kwon said on Facebook, "The Yongsan Maintenance Depot site is the only prime land left in the center of Seoul."
He added, "Originally, the Seoul Metropolitan Government had plans to develop the Maintenance Depot site as an international business district. Last year, the feasibility study conducted by Seoul City for the Maintenance Depot site was based on an international business district and included supplying about 5,700 housing units. However, due to the real estate surge this year, the government announced an incomprehensible plan to supply 10,000 units, including rental housing."

Kwon stated, "Then it will become an international residential district, not an international business district," and pointed out, "It is desirable to create an international business district and use the profits generated there to build good public housing elsewhere."
