Among 36 Proposed Projects Reflecting Children and Adolescents' Opinions, 6 Finalized... New Projects Utilizing AI, SNS Continue... 'Non-face-to-face Youth Center App' Project Receives Most Votes Highlighting Youth Interests
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Seongbuk-gu (Mayor Lee Seung-ro) held the ‘2021 Children and Youth Participatory Budget Selection Online General Assembly’ on the 14th at the Seongbuk Art Hall on the 4th floor of Seongbuk-gu Office.
With the voting age lowered to 18 starting from the 21st National Assembly election, expanding the suffrage of youth, Seongbuk-gu has actively expanded and promoted the ‘Children and Youth Participatory Budget System,’ a core project for youth participation in district administration, every year to actively reflect the opinions of youth in policies.
This year’s ‘Children and Youth Participatory Budget System’ was conducted by reviewing the proposed projects submitted from September 7 to 18 by the relevant departments of the district office, and selecting the projects that received the most support from youth through voting.
Out of 32 proposed projects, 6 passed the departmental review. Online voting was held from October 8 to 13 for these projects, and the final results were announced at the online general assembly on the 14th. Along with the announcement, a session explaining the projects, including ‘Questions to the Proposers (Q&A),’ was held.
The online general assembly was broadcast live through the Seongbuk-gu YouTube channel. It was hosted by youth participant Jung Ha-yoon (1st year student at Donggu Girls’ Middle School), and the six youths who proposed the final six projects attended the assembly.
The project with the highest number of votes was the ‘Non-face-to-face Youth Center App’ proposed by youth Jeon Young-jae (1st year student at Hongdae High School). Following were the projects ‘SeongBOOK Growing Together in the AI Era,’ ‘Youth YouTube Creation Studio Link,’ ‘Youth Project Informer,’ ‘Schooling Club for Out-of-School Students,’ and ‘School Corner Concert Project CoronaX.’
