Kim Sam-ho, Mayor of Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju, Appointed Vice Chairman of the Local Government Council
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Kim Samho, Mayor of Gwangsan District, Gwangju Metropolitan City, was appointed as the Vice President of the Gwangju Region at the temporary general meeting of the "Chamjoeun Local Government Council (hereinafter Local Government Council)" held on the 14th.
According to Gwangsan District on the 15th, the Local Government Council, an administrative council under the Local Autonomy Act with participation from 108 cities, counties, and districts nationwide, was established to efficiently respond to rapidly changing local autonomy issues and to seek mutually beneficial cooperation methods among local governments.
This general meeting was held to elect the president and executives and to share the 2021 business plan.
Since joining the Local Government Council in March last year, Mayor Kim has been cooperating and forming solidarity with local governments nationwide to resolve regional issues.
Additionally, he has supported the expansion of residents' autonomy committees from 2 to 9 neighborhoods, expanded the residents' participatory budgeting system, and implemented village contest projects, strengthening Gwangsan District's autonomy and decentralization capabilities.
In June, he was recognized for his contributions to establishing and operating the Gwangsan District Enterprise Doctor Center, a support organization for small and medium-sized enterprises and small business owners, and received the Excellence Award in the field of strengthening decentralization at the "2020 Governance Local Politics Awards."
