Joo Ho-young "Disappointed in Lee Nak-yeon pushing the Corruption Investigation Office... It will be a stain"
[Asia Economy Reporters Kim Hyemin and Im Chunhan] On the 15th, Joo Ho-young, floor leader of the People Power Party, sharply criticized Lee Nak-yeon, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, saying, "If the High-ranking Officials' Crime Investigation Unit (PCC) is forcibly launched by power, it will remain a stain for a long time."
Through an emergency committee meeting held at the National Assembly that morning, Floor Leader Joo said, "I was very disappointed to see Leader Lee suddenly visit the PCC the day before and say, 'There is a limit to waiting. Please prevent any disgraceful incidents from happening.'"
He added, "The Democratic Party forcibly pushed through the fast-track (urgent legislative process) despite not meeting the requirements, creating an irreparable disgrace in constitutional history full of unconstitutional elements. Asking to prevent disgraceful incidents means they intend to use their majority seats to revise the existing PCC law to suit their tastes, proceed with the recommendation committee, and make appointments accordingly," he criticized.
Floor Leader Joo said, "Before saying this, Leader Lee should first address the fact that during his tenure as Prime Minister, the Ministry of Unification left the position of director of the North Korean Human Rights Foundation vacant for four years, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs left the North Korean Human Rights Ambassador position vacant," adding, "Ignoring this and forcibly pushing the PCC is a disappointing act completely unbefitting of someone aspiring to be the nation's top leader and will remain a stain for a long time."
He continued, "A sword has no eyes. You never know who it will stab," warning, "The guillotine that was created during the French Revolution was itself struck by the guillotine. The Democratic Party should think carefully and seriously once again."
Additionally, Floor Leader Joo reiterated his call for a special prosecutor regarding the Lime and Optimus private equity fund cases. He said, "We requested the creation of a special investigation team led by Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol, but it has been neglected for months, and although the Prosecutor General requested 10 dispatched prosecutors, only 5 were assigned," criticizing, "It's like covering one's eyes and pretending to see nothing."
