Jungnang-gu Yongma, Gureung, Bonghwa, and Mangusan: Four Sites Operating 'Self-Enjoyed Forest Play'
Operation of October events including 'Dotoriya Nolja', 'Making Autumn Memories at Gurungsan', 'Food Chain Ttakji Game', and 'Hope-Giving Sotdae Story'
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) has prepared a special program where people can experience the forest.
Since the 5th, the district has been operating ‘Self-Enjoying Forest Play’ at four locations?Yongmasan, Gurungsan, Bonghwasan, and Mangu-san?for children in the area.
‘Self-Enjoying Forest Play’ is a non-face-to-face forest experience program developed by Jungnang-gu in response to the difficulty of in-person activities due to COVID-19. It allows participants to enjoy forest play on their own by following the guideboards installed at the experience sites.
Among the main program contents, ‘Let’s Play Acorn’ at Yongmasan Children’s Forest Experience Center offers activities such as making acorn spinning tops and brooches. ‘Making Autumn Memories at Gurungsan’ takes place at Gurungsan Nature Experience Park, where children can play musical instruments, sing songs, and decorate natural material frames.
Additionally, at Bonghwasan Children’s Forest Experience Center, children can enjoy ‘Food Chain Ttakji Play’ playing traditional Korean paper cards, and at Mangu-san Children’s Adventure Playground, they can experience making sotdae (traditional Korean wooden poles) through the ‘Story of Sotdae Giving Hope’ program.
Furthermore, the district has produced promotional videos for ‘Let’s Play Acorn’ and ‘Making Autumn Memories at Gurungsan’ held at Yongmasan Children’s Forest Experience Center and Gurungsan Nature Experience Park, so children can experience the forest from home.
In particular, the videos feature various scenes of the forest, including the natural landscapes of Yongmasan and Gurungsan and forest wildlife, providing plenty of visual enjoyment. The videos will be released on the 15th through Jungnang-gu’s official YouTube channel and other platforms.
The operating hours for ‘Self-Enjoying Forest Play’ are from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and visitors can participate without a reservation. Children are required to wear masks on-site and can participate only after a temperature check.
Ryu Kyung-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, said, “I hope that through this video and program, children who are physically and mentally exhausted from COVID-19 will gain joy and vitality. We will continue to actively develop various programs so that children can safely and enjoyably experience the forest.”
