On the 13th, the Rail Network Authority announced that it will jointly hold the "Daejeon-Chungcheong Public Institutions Job Idea-thon" with Korea Gas Technology Corporation, Korea Western Power, Korea Water Resources Corporation, and Korea Minting and Security Printing Corporation.
Idea-thon is a compound word of "idea" and "marathon," where participants form teams to plan and present ideas or business models in a competition.
Anyone who is a Korean national aged 19 or older can participate in the contest. Those wishing to participate must apply by forming a team of up to five members or individually through the contest website by the 30th.
The contest themes are divided into "common fields," which are job projects that the five public institutions can jointly promote to realize social value, and "institution-specific fields," which propose job projects reflecting the characteristics of each institution's work area.
The five public institutions will support the teams by having their employees act as mentors to enhance the expertise and completeness of the ideas.
Further details can be found on the contest website.
The Rail Network Authority and others will comprehensively evaluate the feasibility and innovativeness of the ideas and select five teams in the common fields and fifteen teams in the institution-specific fields.
The selected outstanding teams will undergo review by related organizations and pilot projects will be promoted to link the ideas to actual job creation.
Kim Sang-gyun, Director of the Rail Network Authority, said, "We hope for active participation from the public with fresh and creative job creation ideas," adding, "The five public institutions will strive to lead the post-COVID era and realize social value by promoting job creation and revitalizing the regional economy through this contest."
