[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Ga-yeon] A current police officer was arrested for illegally filming women using public restrooms at commercial establishments near their residences for several years.
The Cyber Investigation Unit of the Gyeonggi Nambu Provincial Police Agency announced on the 13th that they have sent Police Officer A (25) from the Guri Police Station to prosecution on charges of violating the Special Act on the Punishment of Sexual Crimes (filming using cameras, etc.).
Officer A is accused of filming women using public restrooms at commercial establishments in front of their home in the northern Gyeonggi area dozens of times from 2016 until last August.
Investigations revealed that Officer A committed the crimes even before joining the police force in 2018. It was also found that some offenses were committed after joining the force.
During the police investigation, Officer A reportedly denied some of the charges.
Meanwhile, the Guri Police Station dismissed Officer A from their position last month. The prosecution plans to indict Officer A soon.
