Wavve Adds Popular Chinese Drama to Exclusive Lineup... 'Cheon Ae Jeok Ui Gi Gun' Released
[Asia Economy Reporter Joesulgina] Wavve, which exclusively offers popular overseas series such as 'Normal People' and 'Gangs of London,' is also adding popular Chinese dramas to its exclusive lineup.
Content Wavve, the operator of the online video service (OTT) Wavve, announced on the 13th that starting with 'Happiness, Within Reach (幸福,?手可及)' in September, it has been sequentially exclusively releasing a total of five works including 'Zhonggui Catching Demons (??捉妖?)', 'My Dear Qi Jun (??的?祁君)', 'Wow Yu Huang Resort (?牛????)', and 'The Girl Upstairs (小女上房揭瓦)'. Episodes of these works are newly updated weekly through Wavve.
The newly released 'My Dear Qi Jun' is a 36-episode time-slip fantasy historical drama that aired on China's Youku in May this year. It depicts episodes where the protagonist, the saint Michil, is reincarnated as the queen and accompanies the journey of King Yi.
The upcoming 'Wow Yu Huang Resort' is a remake of the popular Japanese drama 'Nodame Cantabile' and aired on China's Hunan Satellite TV in June this year. Following that, the romance set in the Republic of China era, 'The Girl Upstairs,' is also a recent work aired in China this year.
Wavve currently holds over 300 Chinese drama titles, providing the largest number of works among domestic platforms. Chinese dramas have received high responses from users, with 'The Untamed' ranking first in viewership share among all overseas dramas on Wavve in the first half of this year.
