Good Neighbors Jeonnam Central Branch Conducts 'Korea Child Happiness Project'
Kia Motors and Jeonnam Naju Office of Education Collaborate on Child Play Rights Advocacy Project
Play Workshops Conducted for 257 Students at 5 Elementary Schools in Naju, Jeonnam, and 'Play Empathy Kits' Distributed
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] Good Neighbors Jeonnam Central Branch (Branch Manager Yoo Kiyong) announced on the 13th that it will carry out the child play rights advocacy project, "Korea Child Happiness Project," in collaboration with Kia Motors and Jeonnam Naju Office of Education until the 30th.
According to Good Neighbors' 2018 Korea Child Rights Index research, when examining the degree of child rights protection in South Korea, the Jeonnam region scored 60.1 points, which is 14.9 points lower than Ulsan, the region with the highest child rights protection index, making it the lowest score nationwide.
The "Korea Child Happiness Project" was planned to guarantee the play rights of children in the Jeonnam region by improving awareness of children's right to play and establishing an institutional foundation based on Article 31 of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and Article 8 of the Korea Child Rights Charter.
This project is conducted with the sponsorship of Kia Motors, and Good Neighbors Jeonnam Central Branch and Jeonnam Naju Office of Education cooperate to implement it targeting 257 students from five elementary schools in the Naju area of Jeonnam.
The project includes a "Play Workshop" where physical play programs are conducted. The workshop dispatches "Play Empathy Activists," composed of counseling psychology students from Dongshin University who received prior training, to provide professional play activities that foster cooperation and community spirit among children.
Participating children will receive a personal "Play Empathy Kit" containing an iClay set, board games, and coloring books to support continued play activities at home after the workshop.
