Kitchen Hygiene Status of Delivery-Only Restaurants Published on Gangseo-gu Office Website
Recruitment of Restaurants for Kitchen Disclosure Until October 30... Hygiene Supplies Such as Masks and Hand Sanitizers Provided to Participating Establishments
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gangseo-gu, Seoul (Mayor Noh Hyun-song) will disclose the kitchen hygiene status of delivery-only restaurants, whose demand has greatly increased due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, on its website.
Recently, as non-face-to-face lifestyles have become a trend due to COVID-19, orders through delivery have surged compared to dining in stores. However, most delivery-only restaurants do not expose their hygiene status externally, causing increased consumer anxiety.
To alleviate these concerns, the district has decided to disclose the kitchen hygiene status on its website with the consent of the delivery-only restaurant owners.
The target establishments for kitchen disclosure are delivery-only restaurants with no seating and only a kitchen, as well as delivery-focused establishments with only one or two tables even if seating is available.
Delivery-only restaurants participating in the kitchen disclosure will be promoted through the district office website and newsletters, and will also receive hygiene supplies such as hygiene masks, hand sanitizers, and volume-based waste bags.
Businesses wishing to participate can submit an application form by visiting the Gangseo-gu Public Health Center Hygiene Management Division or by email (suhye34@gangseo.seoul.kr) by the 30th of this month.
The district will conduct on-site hygiene inspections for the applying businesses, take photos and videos of kitchen cooking facilities and hoods, and post them on the website.
Detailed information can be found on the ‘Gangseo-gu Office Website - News Plaza - Notices/News’ section, where the necessary application forms can also be downloaded.
The district plans to conduct ongoing follow-up management, including at least one hygiene inspection per year for delivery-only restaurants that disclose their kitchens.
Photos of delivery-only restaurant kitchens can be viewed at ‘Gangseo-gu Office Website - Information by Category - Delivery Restaurant Kitchen Disclosure’.
A district official said, “We hope this kitchen disclosure project will help ease concerns about delivery food hygiene even a little,” and added, “We will continue to do our best to improve food hygiene standards and create a safe food environment.”
