[Asia Economy Reporter Park So-yeon] "The best way to predict the future is to create the future," emphasizing the need to go beyond innovation and make a history of creation.
Hanwha Group Chairman Kim Seung-yeon highlighted this in his 68th anniversary address on the 12th, presenting 'post-COVID-19,' 'digital,' and 'sustainability' as new management themes.
In the company broadcast that day, Chairman Kim said, "As the group’s chairman, I have experienced numerous crises such as the IMF foreign exchange crisis and the global financial crisis," adding, "The COVID-19 crisis, which shakes the roots of life and the economy entirely, is a completely new crisis unlike anything we have experienced before."
He continued, "Investment and efforts to discover new growth engines will be the foundation for leading the post-COVID-19 era," emphasizing the need to establish business strategies and leading capabilities to dominate the post-COVID-19 era, where a changed industrial landscape and new rules will prevail. He also stressed the importance of building an agile system for crisis response through digital-based infrastructure and organizational culture in an environment where the normalization of non-face-to-face interactions is inevitable.
In the financial sector, he requested accelerating the pace of digital innovation to create an advanced financial culture. In the manufacturing sector, he ordered the establishment of smart factory environments integrating artificial intelligence (AI) and big data, and in the service sector, he urged providing customers with a higher level of experience in their daily lives through digital technology.
Along with this, Chairman Kim delivered a message that Hanwha must become sustainable through "transparent management that fulfills responsibilities." In particular, he emphasized, "As a leader in the global eco-friendly market economy, Hanwha must actively participate in the Green New Deal." He stated that Hanwha Group, as a leader in the global eco-friendly market economy, should accelerate its innovative movements for the environment, including solar power, green hydrogen energy solutions, and eco-friendly plastic material businesses.
