Jung Se-hyun: "Kim Jong-un's phrase 'beloved South compatriots' contains a kind of foreshadowing"
tbs Radio Interview, Analysis of Chairman Kim Jong-un's Parade Remarks... "Inter-Korean Relations Will Soften from Next Year"
[Asia Economy Reporter Ryu Jeong-min] "I thought there was a kind of foreshadowing in the phrase 'beloved southern compatriots,' considering inter-Korean relations after next year." Jeong Se-hyun, Vice Chairman of the Democratic Peaceful Unification Advisory Council, said this in an interview with tbs Radio's 'Kim Eo-jun's News Factory' on the morning of the 12th.
Vice Chairman Jeong said, "A politician's remarks are not just chosen to sound good," and predicted, "From 2021, things might soften a bit." Analyzing North Korean Supreme Leader Kim Jong-un's speech at the Workers' Party's 75th anniversary military parade, he forecasted that changes in inter-Korean relations would occur from next year after the U.S. presidential election concludes.
Vice Chairman Jeong said, "(Kim Jong-un) is not meeting now because it is risky due to COVID-19. After overcoming this, inevitably, we will need to cooperate with you, so I think he made such a request in his speech at the Workers' Party's 75th anniversary ceremony."
Vice Chairman Jeong focused on the dramatic effect of the North Korean Workers' Party 75th anniversary military parade held at dawn. He said, "At exactly midnight, the moment October 10 began, Kim Jong-un appeared," adding, "As one of our professors pointed out, North Korea is a theater state."
Vice Chairman Jeong said, "When Kim Jong-un crossed the clock's zero hour and raised his hand, I noticed the color of his suit and felt it was the color Kim Il-sung used to favor," and diagnosed, "Even imitating that gray suit to evoke memories of his grandfather and to increase support, he used another method by choking up and showing tears."
Regarding the U.S. presidential election, Vice Chairman Jeong said, "It seems North Korea also views the possibility of Biden, the Democratic Party's candidate, winning as high," and added, "When a new administration comes in, because the U.S. is a large country, it takes a lot of time to officially implement North Korea policies."
Vice Chairman Jeong said, "From now on, sending messages to the South with the intention of pushing forward inter-Korean relations ahead until North Korea-U.S. relations improve next year," and analyzed, "President Moon Jae-in must have mentioned this in his continued letters, and Minister Lee In-young, after taking office, has done many good things for North Korea, and the response appeared in the speech just before the military parade at dawn on the 10th."
Meanwhile, regarding North Korea's unveiling of a new ICBM, Vice Chairman Jeong said, "To put it metaphorically, it was just showing off muscles without throwing punches," and added, "The nuclear weapons are aimed at the U.S."
Vice Chairman Jeong said, "Linking ICBMs with a declaration of the end of the war is really an absurd idea," and analyzed, "If North Korea-U.S. nuclear negotiations start in the future and new ICBMs are inconvenient and they want to get rid of them, they will demand a lot of compensation, asking for a price."
