Malti-jae (430m above sea level) is a steep mountain pass with twelve winding curves that blend with the forest, also known as "Malti-gogae." The Malti-jae Forest, where coniferous and broadleaf trees coexist, is suitable for forest bathing. Nearby, the Songnisan Natural Recreation Forest and Jangjae Reservoir complement the area, offering beautiful autumn foliage and outstanding fall scenery.
Trees over 40 years old account for more than 82% of the forest. Pine, larch, and Japanese larch are the main coniferous economic species, while oak species such as Mongolian oak and sawtooth oak are the primary broadleaf species, creating a harmonious mix.
The Korea Forest Service has designated about 1,000 hectares of national forest around Malti-jae as the Malti-jae Economic Forest Development Complex and manages the forest to use it as a source of high-quality timber supply.
For more detailed information about visiting and experiencing the Malti-jae Forest, inquiries can be made through the Boeun National Forest Management Office of the Korea Forest Service or the National Songnisan Natural Recreation Forest.
