Muangun County Office Director, Arrest Warrant 'Requested' on Bribery Charges
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Seo Young-seo] On the 8th, the Mokpo Branch of the Gwangju District Prosecutors' Office filed an arrest warrant for Section Chief A of the Muan County Office in Jeonnam.
Section Chief A has been under investigation by the prosecution on charges of receiving bribes worth approximately 73 million won from a contractor related to the Namchangcheon Ecological Stream Restoration Project in Muan.
The investigation began in March when a former contractor official disclosed the bribery to the media.
The tip-off stated that Manufacturer B provided bribes to Section Chief A in advance and, in return, supplied products.
The Namchangcheon Ecological Stream Restoration Project, valued at 17 billion won, started in October 2010 and was completed in December 2016. Along with civil engineering works, vegetation revetments, purification wetlands, ecological waterways, and bicycle paths were created along Namchangcheon.
