Kookmin University Commemorates Hangul Day with Seoul National University Honorary Professor: Development, Exhibition, and Free Distribution of 'Jaeminche'
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunju Lee] Kookmin University announced on the 8th that, in celebration of Hangeul Day, it has prepared a special exhibition titled 'Writing Together, Drawing Together _ From the Royal Decree of the Opening to Hangeul Jaemin' at the Seoul National University Hospital Medical Museum, in collaboration with Professor Emeritus Jaegab Park of Seoul National University College of Medicine and the Kookmin University Social and Cultural Design Research Institute.
The 'Hangeul Jaemin Typeface,' unveiled for the first time through this exhibition, is a digital font developed based on the Hangeul jaso (letters) appearing in the Royal Decree of the Opening of the Daehan Clinic, which is preserved at the Seoul National University Hospital Museum in Yeongeon-dong, Jongno-gu. It is a modern reinterpretation of the characters found in the royal decree related to the opening ceremony of the Daehan Clinic issued by Emperor Sunjong in 1908. The typeface's name, Hangeul Jaemin, was given based on the principle of 'sovereignty belongs to the people' (Jugeon Jaemin), signifying that the nation's sovereignty resides with its citizens.
