‘2020 Yeongdeungpo Network Art Festival’ Held
Held from the 9th to the 18th at Mullae Creative Village, Indie Art Hall Gong, Yeongdeungpo Market Station, and more... A new-concept festival also available online via Yeongdeungpo Cultural Foundation's YouTube channel
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Yeongdeungpo-gu (Mayor Chae Hyun-il) is hosting the ‘2020 Yeongdeungpo Network Arts Festival,’ an alliance arts festival that seeks expansion throughout Yeongdeungpo by connecting other areas centered around Mullae Creative Village under the slogan ‘Neighbors are the Future.’
Mullae Creative Village, which emerged as artists settled among the factories in Mullae-dong, a representative industrial area, has now established itself as one of Yeongdeungpo’s iconic tourist attractions.
This ‘2020 Yeongdeungpo Network Arts Festival’ is the second arts festival with Mullae Creative Village as the main stage, following the ‘Mullae Creative Village Arts Festival’ that began in 2019.
The purpose of this festival is to explore ways to actively open up art through online platforms even amid the COVID-19 pandemic, and to move forward as a cultural and artistic community where artists themselves embrace neighbors, live vibrantly, and enjoy together.
Hosted and organized by the Yeongdeungpo Cultural Foundation from the 9th to the 18th, the ‘2020 Yeongdeungpo Network Arts Festival’ features various programs such as ▲Union Art Fair ▲Open Studio ▲Performances ▲Artist Talks ▲Pop-up Market, dispersed across 30 small-scale creative spaces in consideration of the global COVID-19 pandemic situation.
The festival venues are mainly divided into three locations: the Mullae Creative Village area, Indie Art Hall Gong (Seonyu-seoro 30-gil 30), and Yeongdeungpo Market Station.
At Mullae Creative Village, visitors can view and purchase works by emerging artists at the ‘2020 Union Art Fair,’ attend exhibitions held in artists’ studios that are usually closed to the public through ‘Open Studio: ARTSPACE,’ and enjoy various performances held at Mullae Art Factory, alleys, and building rooftops.
At Indie Art Hall Gong, visitors can experience the free performance of the original play ‘Mr. Daesu, Where Are You Going?’ along with the experimental program ‘Open Plane Open Game’ featuring 13 emerging artists. Additionally, at the first Seoul Cultural Arts Railway space set up at Yeongdeungpo Market Station, ‘Lounge Sai’ and ‘Creative Sam’ will host solo exhibitions by artists Mira Park and Ji Hong.
During the festival period, various videos will be posted on the Yeongdeungpo Cultural Foundation’s YouTube channel so that anyone can enjoy the arts festival online, partially alleviating the disappointment of citizens unable to attend in person due to COVID-19.
Each venue will apply the core quarantine guidelines of ‘Social Distancing’ Level 2, maintaining fewer than 30 simultaneous visitors, with entry allowed only after wearing masks, temperature checks, and QR check-in or signing the visitor log.

Kang Won-jae, CEO of the Yeongdeungpo Cultural Foundation, stated, “We are starting an arts festival that is small individually but greatly connected through networks while strictly adhering to quarantine measures. We hope this Yeongdeungpo Network Arts Festival will serve as a refreshing relief for audiences who have longed for culture and arts, and as a beacon of hope for artists whose creative activities have slowed.”
