Gyeongnam Office of Education Requests Severe Disciplinary Action for Private Middle School Teacher over 'Inappropriate Physical Contact'
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Choi Hyun-joo] The Gyeongnam Office of Education announced on the 7th that it has requested the school corporation of Milyang A Middle School to impose severe disciplinary action regarding the sexual misconduct incident that occurred at the school.
This measure follows the decision made on the 6th by the Milyang Education Support Office's Sexual Harassment and Sexual Violence Grievance Deliberation Committee, which judged the sexual matter involving teacher B at A Middle School as sexual harassment.
According to the provincial education office, A Middle School received reports during its July internal school violence survey that some students experienced unnecessary physical contact from teacher B. After reporting to the education office, the matter was reported to the police.
The Milyang Education Support Office visited the site and recommended the school take protective measures for the victims, exclude the teacher from classes, and implement measures to prevent secondary damage. Subsequently, a Sexual Matter Handling Support Team, including external experts, began investigating and confirmed that teacher B had made unnecessary physical contact with 5 to 6 individuals, including graduates and current students this year.
