Gwangju City, Second Recruitment of Transportation Expense Support Recipients for Job-Seeking Youth
Online Applications Open Until the 23rd for 170 Unemployed Youth Aged 19-34
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 5th that it is recruiting the second round of applicants for transportation expenses support (transportation card worth 300,000 KRW) for job-seeking youth.
The transportation expenses support for job-seeking youth is a program introduced by Gwangju City in 2017 to reduce the transportation cost burden for job-seeking youth and to promote active job searching activities. In early July this year, 1,668 first-round recipients were selected and each was provided with 300,000 KRW.
The second recruitment targets 170 individuals who are unemployed youth aged 19 to 34 residing in Gwangju, and whose household income is at or below 150% of the median income standard.
Applications can be submitted online through the Gwangju Youth Center website from the 19th to the 23rd of this month.
The final selected applicants will be announced on the city’s website on the 28th, and individual notifications will also be sent via text message.
Selected recipients will be given a public transportation card loaded with 300,000 KRW, which can be used on city buses, subways, express buses, KTX, and taxis within Gwangju.

Kang Young-sook, Director of the Women and Family Bureau of the city, said, “The youth transportation card carries a meaning beyond simply supporting transportation costs; it also recharges the self-esteem of local youth,” and added, “We hope it will help promote active job-seeking activities among young people.”
