USFK and Families Also Test Positive for COVID-19
[Asia Economy Yang Nak-gyu, Military Specialist Reporter]Three additional cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed among U.S. Forces Korea personnel, including two soldiers who arrived from the United States and one family member of a soldier.
According to the U.S. Forces Korea Command on the 5th, the two confirmed soldiers arrived at Osan Air Base on the 27th and 29th of last month, respectively, aboard U.S. government chartered flights. The family member of a soldier entered through Incheon International Airport on the 29th of last month via a commercial flight.
All three tested positive immediately upon arrival and were transferred to isolation treatment facilities at Camp Humphreys (U.S. military base in Pyeongtaek) and Gunsan Air Base. Passengers who traveled on the same flights also underwent COVID-19 diagnostic testing immediately upon arrival and will be subject to a 14-day self-quarantine in accordance with the guidelines of U.S. Forces Korea and Korean health authorities.
The Republic of Korea Army is also on high alert. The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases at an army unit located in Pocheon, Gyeonggi Province, has risen to about 30, prompting the isolation of all personnel in the unit and the issuance of a restriction order on leaving all military units within the Pocheon area.

Comprehensive testing of approximately 240 soldiers at the army unit in Naechon-myeon, Pocheon, confirmed a total of 36 COVID-19 cases, including 33 enlisted soldiers and 3 officers. This means about 15% of the entire unit has been infected. The military is tracing the infection routes of the confirmed cases but has not yet identified the exact cause.
