View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Young-eun] The COVID-19 positive patient (Mr. A) from Sangju, Gyeongbuk, who previously ran for the National Assembly election, is causing difficulties for quarantine authorities in their investigation due to not properly disclosing his movement history.
According to the Sangju quarantine authorities on the 5th, Mr. A, in his 60s, was admitted to Sangju Seongmo Hospital on the 2nd with vomiting symptoms. He was confirmed to have had close contact with the 60-year-old female Sangju case number 21 (Ms. B), and after specimen testing, he tested positive on the 4th. Mr. A previously ran as a candidate for a certain party in the 19th general election and also served as the head of a central association of a private health-related organization.
During the first epidemiological investigation, Mr. A claimed that he "stayed at his home in Sangju," but when the authorities pointed out that he stayed in Gyeonggi Province from the 16th to the 30th of last month, he changed his statement to say that he "slept in his car and washed up in the train station restroom."
Tracking of his mobile phone GPS (Global Positioning System) and credit card investigation revealed that Mr. A and Ms. B stayed in Gwacheon and Uiwang cities in Gyeonggi Province from the 16th to the 30th of last month and also visited Gangnam and Seocho districts in Seoul. However, even after being transferred to Andong Medical Center, Mr. A still did not disclose the accommodation in Gyeonggi Province where he stayed for two weeks, insisting that he "slept in the vehicle."
