All 159 High-Risk Patients During Chuseok Holiday Tested Negative
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jeong Seunghyun] Mokpo City maintained a thorough 24-hour quarantine system to ensure that citizens and returning visitors could have a safe and comfortable Chuseok holiday.
According to Mokpo City on the 5th, to ensure a safe Chuseok holiday, eight teams were organized covering comprehensive situation, traffic, tourism, civil complaints, welfare, general civil complaints, health and hygiene, and disaster and accident response, with over 350 personnel on emergency duty, successfully concluding the holiday without major incidents or accidents.
In particular, full efforts were made to prepare for any COVID-19 outbreaks during this holiday.
To prepare for confirmed cases, an emergency medical response situation room was set up within the public health center, and screening clinics were operated at a total of seven medical institutions, including the public health center, to enable immediate diagnostic testing for individuals showing COVID-19 symptoms.
At the screening clinics, 254 people were examined during the Chuseok holiday, and specimens were collected from 159 patients classified as high-risk and sent for diagnostic testing, all of which returned negative results.
During the holiday period, approximately 32,000 people visited major city tourist attractions such as the Marine Cable Car, Modern History Museum, and Mokpo Natural History Museum to spend the Chuseok holiday.
City officials gave up their Chuseok holiday to prepare for visitors, conducting daily inspections of a total of 484 high-risk and multi-use facilities and promoting compliance with quarantine rules. Additionally, about 60 personnel conducted daily quarantine inspections and disinfection at 30 major tourist sites.
A Mokpo City official stated, “To prevent the spread of COVID-19 during the Chuseok holiday, we fostered an atmosphere discouraging visits to hometowns and focused on quarantine efforts, resulting in no confirmed COVID-19 cases in our region,” adding, “Considering the 14-day incubation period, the city will remain vigilant until the end and do its best to protect citizens’ health and safety.”
