View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Ji-hee] Hankook Tire & Technology announced on the 5th that its new winter ultra-high-performance tire, the 'Winter i*cept evo3,' will be equipped on Volkswagen's 'ID.3 Germany Tour' project vehicles.
The 'ID.3 Germany Tour' is a project by Volkswagen to test the driving network across Germany by driving approximately 20,000 km with the brand's first electric vehicle model, the ID.3. The tour starts in Oberstdorf, the southernmost city in Germany, and will pass through major locations including electric vehicle charging stations across Germany, ending at the northernmost island, Sylt.
Hankook Tire joined this important project planned for the next-generation electric vehicle market based on the trust built through years of partnership.
The Winter i*cept evo3, equipped on the ID.3 for this project, is the successor model to the already proven Winter i*cept evo2, which has been supplied as original equipment tires to numerous leading global automakers. It is a winter ultra-high-performance tire launched this year in the European market. It received the 'exemplary' rating, awarded only to the top six products, in the 2020 winter tire test conducted by the European automotive magazine Auto Bild, recognizing its quality and technology. It is scheduled to be released domestically in early October to coincide with the winter season.

Meanwhile, Hankook Tire has been responding to market changes by establishing a customized technology development strategy for each electric vehicle segment even before the commercialization of electric vehicles. It launched the second-generation electric vehicle tire 'Kinergy EV' for general electric vehicle drivers and was selected as the exclusive partner to supply electric vehicle tires for the Formula E electric car racing series starting from the 2022/23 season.
