Gwangju City Supports Student Loan Interest for College and Graduate Students in the Second Semester
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 4th that it will accept applications from the 5th to November 16th to support student loan interest for university (graduate) students for the second semester of 2020.
The support target is students currently enrolled or on leave at universities (graduate schools) located in Gwangju who have their resident registration in Gwangju as of the announcement date (October 5, 2020). It supports six months' worth of accrued interest (interest accrued from July to December 2020) on student loans borrowed from the Korea Student Aid Foundation between the first semester of 2017 and the second semester of 2020.
The payment schedule can be checked on the Korea Student Aid Foundation website at the end of December after the eligibility review of applicants.
Applications can be submitted online through the city’s website. For more details, refer to the interest support application announcement posted on the website or contact the Gwangju Youth and Adolescents Division.

Son Ok-su, head of the Youth and Adolescents Division, said, “Since 2011, we have continuously implemented the student loan interest support project,” adding, “We hope this will help local youth reduce the burden of education expenses and focus on their studies during their enrollment period.”
