[Asia Economy Reporter Jeon Jinyoung] Former candidate Park Changjin, who ran in the Justice Party's next party leader election, expressed his support for candidate Bae Jinkyo, who advanced to the final round, on the 3rd.
They held a meeting that day and stated, "We promised to take the path of a trusted second founding to become a party that resonates with the public and realizes the values of progressive politics."
After the meeting, former candidate Park said on Facebook, "Candidate Bae publicly promised to lead the reform of factional activities in his declaration of candidacy," adding, "He agreed on the necessity of a second founding and promised to accept many of our pledges." He emphasized, "Candidate Bae also agreed to the 'special reinstatement of members who left the party this year' proposed during the debate process."
Candidate Bae said, "The two candidated exchanged candid opinions about the party's future and agreed to work together to gather the interest and passion of the public and party members," adding, "They agreed on the need to strengthen party members' decision-making power, including holding a party-wide vote on major party issues to cherish party members and establish intra-party democracy."
He added, "We also deeply agreed on the need for politics that focuses on addressing worsening inequality, the climate crisis, the disaster era after the COVID-19 pandemic, realizing a gender-equal society, and protecting the lives of socially vulnerable people."

Candidate Bae has also proposed a meeting with candidate Kim Jongmin. The Justice Party will conduct an online final vote over five days starting from the 5th against candidates Kim Jongcheol and Bae, who ranked first and second in the nationwide simultaneous party officer election held on the 27th of last month, and will finalize the next party leader on the 9th.
