Mild Fever, Cough, and Nasal Congestion Symptoms... "Never Transferred Power to the Vice President"
[Asia Economy Reporter Yujin Cho] U.S. President Donald Trump, after testing positive for COVID-19 on the 2nd (local time), is showing mild symptoms but will be hospitalized for a few days at a military hospital as a precautionary measure, the White House announced.
While moving to the military hospital for admission, President Trump gave a thumbs-up to the White House press pool but did not stop for questions. He was seen wearing a navy suit, a blue tie, and a black mask.
In a separate video message posted on Twitter, President Trump said, "I want to thank everyone who has sent their support," adding, "I think I am doing well."
White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany stated in a press release, "President Trump is showing mild symptoms but will continue to work for a few days at Walter Reed (Hospital) as a precautionary measure and under medical advice."
Regarding speculation that President Trump might temporarily transfer power to Vice President Mike Pence as a precaution, a White House official said, "That has not happened."
Earlier that day, President Trump announced via Twitter that he and First Lady Melania Trump had tested positive for COVID-19 and remained at the White House residence.
White House physician Sean Conley said in a statement released in the afternoon, "President Trump is experiencing fatigue but is in good condition," and that as a precaution, he has been taking Regeneron's antibody drug, zinc, vitamin D, melatonin, and aspirin.
Regeneron is a biotechnology company currently conducting Phase 3 clinical trials for its COVID-19 antibody drug, CNN reported.
