'Pung' Sound from Charging Electric Scooter... Fire at Piano Practice Room in Busan
[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Eun-young] A fire broke out on a charging kickboard, causing four people to inhale smoke and resulting in property damage.
At around 3:11 PM on the 2nd, a fire occurred in a piano academy practice room on the 2nd floor of a six-story residential-commercial complex building in Jangjeon-dong, Geumjeong-gu, Busan.
Due to the fire, three people evacuated outside: Mr. A, a man in his 20s practicing piano, Ms. B, a woman in her 20s, and Mr. C, a man in his 20s who was in the adjacent building. Mr. D, a man in his 20s who was in a laboratory on the 5th floor of the same building, also safely escaped to the rooftop after encountering smoke rising from below.
Mr. A and the other three were immediately taken to the hospital after inhaling smoke.
The fire reportedly caused about 18.64 million KRW in property damage, including the burning of violins and pianos.
The fire site is particularly close to Pusan National University, and it was revealed that many students live in the one-room apartments next to the building where the fire occurred.
The police and fire authorities are investigating the exact cause of the fire based on the initial report from Mr. A, who stated, "I was charging the kickboard in the piano practice room and practicing piano when there was a 'pop' sound followed by flames shooting up."
