[Asia Economy Reporter Ryu Jeong-min] President Moon Jae-in and First Lady Kim Jung-sook sent a message of consolation wishing for the speedy recovery of U.S. President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania, who tested positive for the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
Kang Min-seok, spokesperson for the Blue House, said, "President Moon Jae-in and the First Lady sent a message of consolation on the afternoon of the 2nd (Korean time) upon hearing the news of President Trump and First Lady Melania's COVID-19 positive diagnosis."
In the message, President Moon stated, "My wife and I, along with the people of the Republic of Korea, sincerely wish for your speedy recovery, and we extend special condolences and encouragement to your family and the American people."
Earlier, President Trump announced on Twitter on the 2nd, "Tonight, @FLOTUS (First Lady Melania's Twitter account) and I tested positive for COVID-19. We will begin our quarantine and recovery process immediately. We will overcome this 'together.'"
