A man in his 30s sentenced to 18 years in prison for stabbing his mother's lover multiple times with a knife, resulting in death
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Seul-gi] A man in his 30s who stabbed his mother’s lover with a weapon, then reported the crime himself to 112, and stabbed the victim again afterward, received a heavy sentence.
The Daejeon District Court Criminal Division 12 (Chief Judge Lee Chang-kyung) announced on the 28th that it sentenced A (34), who was indicted on murder charges, to 18 years in prison and ordered 5 years of probation.
A was charged with visiting the home of his mother’s lover B (58) in Seo-gu, Daejeon, on the afternoon of March 14 and fatally stabbing B with a weapon.
According to the investigation, after B was found collapsed with wounds all over his body, A voluntarily reported the incident to 112, but in an extreme state of agitation, he stabbed the victim multiple times again with the weapon.
Regarding the motive, A reportedly said, "I did it because I felt he kept ignoring me." It was confirmed that he had a history of mental illness.

The court stated the sentencing rationale, saying, "Considering the defendant’s appalling behavior, the cruelty and violence are at a level that cannot be tolerated. The lack of treatment effect for impulse control disorder and other conditions, as well as his failure to adapt to society, seem to have influenced the incident to some extent."
