Ministry of Science and ICT to Accept Applications for Pseudonymized Data Integration Specialized Institutions
[Asia Economy Reporter Seulgina Jo] The Ministry of Science and ICT announced on the 28th that it is accepting applications for specialized institutions responsible for pseudonymized data linkage. The application period is open until the 14th of next month for public and private corporations, organizations, or institutions across the science, technology, and ICT sectors.
Pseudonymized information refers to data where parts of personal information are deleted or replaced so that individuals cannot be identified without additional information. Since the possibility of re-identification increases when multiple pseudonymized data sets are linked, the specialized linkage institutions will be responsible for ensuring that pseudonymized data linkage is conducted safely without re-identification risks.

To be designated as a specialized linkage institution, applicants must undergo document and on-site evaluations, linkage tests, and meet requirements related to organization and personnel, facilities and equipment, and financial conditions. The Ministry of Science and ICT plans to provide preliminary consulting for institutions seeking designation as specialized linkage institutions.
