The event was attended via video by about 400 people, including the superintendents of education from both Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education and Shanxi Provincial Education Department, principals, teachers, and students from 24 participating schools, wishing for the success of the online international exchange.
After the superintendent’s congratulatory speech, each school introduced themselves, and Jeonnam students welcomed the Chinese students by introducing their schools in Chinese and performing simple performances. Starting with the online launch ceremony, students will engage in exchange activities individually and at the school level with their one-on-one matched friends, and China has expressed interest in inviting schools, making direct exchanges expected in the future.
The ‘1:1 Global Friendship Sharing Activity’ project, which began last month, involves the Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education forming sister school relationships with 51 schools in 15 countries worldwide, including China and Japan, with about 1,400 students participating, including 700 middle and high school students in the province, and 102 teachers from both countries.
To support this, the Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education has established a support system composed of an overall operations team, an online technical support team, and country-specific coordinator teams, providing customized one-stop support for schools, including connecting with desired country schools, programs, training, consulting, and language support.
