Seoul City Designates and Operates Over 5,300 Hospitals and Pharmacies Open During Chuseok Holiday
Antipyretics, Digestive Aids, and Other Over-the-Counter Medicines Available 24 Hours at Convenience Stores
[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] Seoul City announced on the 27th that it will designate and operate clinics and pharmacies that are open during the Chuseok holiday period to ensure that citizens can easily access nearby clinics, hospitals, and pharmacies.
Sixty-four emergency medical institutions and general hospital emergency rooms in Seoul will operate 24 hours as usual, and 1,369 local clinics will provide primary care services. Additionally, 3,960 pharmacies near the open clinics will also be open.
The open clinics and pharmacies can be checked on the websites of the 119 Emergency Medical Situation Management Center, Seoul City, the 25 autonomous districts, and the Central Emergency Medical Center. Citizens can also call 120 (Dasan Call Center) or 119 (Emergency Medical Situation Management Center) without an area code for information, or use the smartphone app 'Emergency Medical Information Service (e-gen)'.
Furthermore, four types of over-the-counter drugs?digestive aids, antipyretic analgesics, cold medicine, and patches?comprising 13 items, can be easily purchased at 7,078 convenience stores and other sales outlets.
During the holiday period, as physical strength may decline due to holiday preparations, long hours of driving, and environmental changes, Seoul City urged citizens to get sufficient sleep and rest, and to strictly maintain personal hygiene such as wearing masks and washing hands to prevent COVID-19.

Park Yu-mi, Director of the Seoul City Citizen Health Bureau, stated, "For a safe and healthy Chuseok holiday, it is advisable to check in advance the nearby clinics and pharmacies that can be used for mild illnesses such as stomach upset or colds during the holiday period, so that emergency rooms do not have to be visited unnecessarily."
