"An Affiliated Official Has Died"... Taeyoungho Urges Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries to Push for a Resolution Condemning North Korea
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] Tae Young-ho, a member of the People Power Party, urged the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries to submit a resolution condemning North Korea to the International Maritime Organization (IMO) in relation to the Yeonpyeong Island public official shooting incident.
On the 25th, Rep. Tae stated, "A public official belonging to the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries was killed and his body was even burned, yet the Ministry is responding complacently," urging this action.
During a call with the Ministry's department in charge of the IMO that morning, he demanded that the IMO request corrective measures from North Korea regarding the killing of Mr. Lee, a public official of the West Sea Fisheries Management Unit, and also issue a resolution condemning the act.

Rep. Tae pointed out, "All North Korean vessels also hold certificates officially issued by North Korea's national maritime supervisory authority, just like ours, and must comply with regulations under international conventions," adding, "I do not understand why our Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries remains passive despite this clear violation of regulations." He emphasized, "It is truly incomprehensible that the Ministry responds this way when one of its own employees has died," urging the Ministry to take swift action.
