View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Chunhee Lee] Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) announced on the 25th that it has appointed 22 master planners for the Bucheon Daejang and Goyang Changneung districts of the 3rd phase new towns. Earlier, the appointment of master planners for other 3rd phase new towns, Namyangju Wangsuk, Incheon Gyeyang, and Hanam Gyosan districts, was completed in April.
The appointment of master planners is a system operated to receive expert advice in all areas before the establishment of district unit plans for new towns. LH has nearly doubled the number of master planners from about 4-5 per district to actively reflect social demands such as strengthening urban self-sufficiency functions in district plans and to develop the 3rd phase new towns as future city models.
For the Bucheon Daejang district, 11 master planners were appointed in 11 fields including urban planning, transportation, industry, landscaping, business planning, and urban design, with Professor Naejeon Lee of Yonsei University as the chairman. For the Goyang Changneung district, 11 master planners were appointed in 10 fields with Professor Hyunsoo Kim of Dankook University as the chairman.
In particular, in the urban design field, Park Sangseop, Vice President of D.A. Group Engineering Comprehensive Architecture Office (Bucheon Daejang), and Kim Taeman, CEO of Haean Architecture (Goyang Changneung), who were selected as the best works in the international competition for 'Basic Urban Concept and Three-dimensional Urban Space Planning' held last month, will directly participate as master planners to create urban and architectural space plans reflecting the characteristics of each district.
