[Photo] 'Uijeongbuji' Designated as Historic Site in Front of Gwanghwamun
The site of 'Uijeongbu,' a Joseon Dynasty government office located in front of Gwanghwamun in Seoul, has been designated as a national cultural heritage site. This place is the only location among the major government offices that were on the old Yukjo Street (Gwanghwamun Square to Sejong-daero) where traces still remain. On the 24th, the Cultural Heritage Administration announced the designation of 'Uijeongbu Site' in Sejong-ro, Jongno-gu, and 'Geochang Georyeolsanseong (居列山城)' in Gyeongnam, a battleground for territorial expansion between the Silla and Baekje kingdoms during the Three Kingdoms period, as historic sites. Historic Site No. 558, Uijeongbu Site, is a relic of great historical and academic value that allows us to examine the architectural aspects of major government offices during the Joseon Dynasty. The photo shows the view of the Uijeongbu Site from the Government Seoul Office Building. /Reporter Mun Honam munonam@
