POSCO Energy, 'Make Good Donations While Walking'
[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] POSCO Energy is leading a good donation initiative that takes care of employees' health through a walking event, plants trees in the Samcheok wildfire-affected area to create a future forest, and practices the corporate citizenship management philosophy.
POSCO Energy held a walking event for all employees in two phases from August 19 to September 18. This walking event encouraged employees, who were mentally and physically exhausted due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, to use stairs instead of elevators and to walk short distances instead of using public transportation, allowing them to maintain social distancing and health simultaneously.
A total of 421 employees who achieved the walking event goals were given companion plants with air-purifying effects as gifts. Additionally, for each companion plant, one tree will be planted in the Samcheok wildfire-affected area, contributing to the creation of a future forest.
In April this year, POSCO Energy, together with its investee company Samcheok Blue Power, planted 5,000 trees in the Samcheok area to restore the damage caused by the 2019 wildfire in Gangwon Province. POSCO Energy plans to plant an additional 421 trees collected through this walking event in the Samcheok wildfire-affected area in October and also volunteer to fertilize the trees planted in April. The forest creation plaque will be engraved with the names of employees who achieved the goals to add significance.
Furthermore, POSCO Energy offers employees who wish to do so the opportunity to donate the companion plants they received for achieving the walking goals to local children's centers in Incheon. By sharing companion plants with children at local children's centers who are spending a lot of time at home due to COVID-19, the company plans to provide emotional stability and healthy energy.
