The event was organized to allow the industry and influencers to express their commitment to self-compliance regarding unfair advertising issues on SNS and to prevent unfair advertising.
At the meeting, the industry and influencers introduced the 'Clean Content Campaign' to eradicate unfair advertising and participated in the self-compliance pledge.
The 'Clean Content Campaign' is a self-regulatory activity where influencers transparently, clearly, and honestly disclose their economic interests in their advertising content.
It is conducted through sharing educational videos and influencers' participation and certification in the Clean Content Campaign.
Chairman Cho emphasized, "It is necessary for influencers to clearly disclose whether they have received economic compensation to provide accurate information to consumers."
He added, "When respecting consumers' rights and voluntarily complying with legal order, the influencer industry can grow more healthily. I hope influencers keep their promises in the campaign and promote it through diverse and creative methods."
Chairman Cho mentioned that while providing an adaptation period to support voluntary legal compliance, strict law enforcement will be carried out if violations continue after the adaptation period.
He said, "We will completely reform the Electronic Commerce Act to protect consumer rights in online transactions. In particular, we plan to strengthen responsibility regulations according to the actual roles and involvement of platform operators."
