HiteJinro Holds Non-Face-to-Face Sports Competition with Fire Agency to Overcome COVID-19
[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Sunghye] HiteJinro announced on the 24th that it will hold a non-face-to-face sports competition, "2020 The Hero Race," together with the National Fire Agency to healthily overcome the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
This event will be held for two months starting from the 1st of next month, targeting a total of 60,000 employees of HiteJinro and firefighters nationwide.
Since signing a business agreement with the National Fire Agency in 2018 to "improve the treatment of firefighters' families and raise public safety awareness," HiteJinro has annually conducted various programs to support firefighters' bereaved families, including scholarships, consolation payments, healing camps, and sports competitions.
This sports competition was planned to promote a sense of accomplishment through physical fitness improvement of HiteJinro employees and firefighters responsible for public safety, and to strengthen unity and communication among members.
For firefighters, the prolonged COVID-19 situation has reduced opportunities to improve physical fitness, increasing the incidence of injuries and safety accidents. This non-face-to-face sports competition is expected to enhance physical fitness in daily life and prevent firefighters' injuries in advance.
The 2020 The Hero Race uses the GPS-based record measurement application "Tranggle," allowing participation anywhere nationwide regardless of time and place. The competition is divided into three categories: individual competition, team competition, and non-competition. The events include a total of 10 categories with overlapping selections possible: ▲ combined total of four events including walking, running, hiking, and cycling ▲ 5km running ▲ 20km cycling ▲ team average combined total of four events ▲ individual BMI improvement, etc.
High scorers in each individual and team competition category will receive commendations and a total prize money of 15 million KRW. In the non-competition category, about 500 participants will be selected by lottery upon mission completion to receive prizes worth approximately 28 million KRW, including smartwatches and cultural gift certificates.
