Going beyond simply supporting firefighters, the company actively assists the families of firefighters who have died in the line of duty and fosters firefighting personnel. During summer and winter, Hite Jinro collaborates with the National Fire Agency to conduct various safety campaigns, fulfilling its social responsibility.
On the 22nd, Hite Jinro announced that it will provide support to 17 individuals, including litigation fees for the families of firefighters, emergency living expenses, and firefighter development scholarships for children of firefighters, to improve the treatment of firefighters. The day before, Hite Jinro held a fund transfer ceremony for the families of firefighters at its Cheongdam-dong headquarters. A total of 13 people attended the event, including Hite Jinro CEO Kim In-gyu, officials from the National Fire Agency, and families of firefighters.
Hite Jinro supports litigation costs such as attorney fees necessary for firefighters who have died by suicide due to work stress to be recognized as line-of-duty deaths, as well as emergency living expenses. Additionally, the company plans to provide firefighter development scholarships for children of deceased firefighters who aspire to become firefighters themselves. Kang Hyun-gu, a child of a firefighter from Gyeongbuk who attended the ceremony, said, "Although I am going through difficult times, I want to grow up to be a cool and excellent firefighter like my father."
Kim In-gyu, CEO of Hite Jinro, said, "We planned this project together with the National Fire Agency to offer some help to firefighters who always work hard to protect the safety and lives of the people under harsh conditions." He added, "Based on our corporate philosophy of win-win management and mutual growth, we will spare no effort to provide multifaceted support for talents who dedicate themselves to society."
Since signing a business agreement with the National Fire Agency in 2018 to improve the treatment of firefighters and raise public safety awareness, Hite Jinro has conducted nationwide public safety campaigns twice a year, with this being the fourth time. Starting in December 2018 in Jeonju, followed by Changwon in July 2019, and then Busan's Bujeon Market and the surrounding commercial areas in December, the company has provided and installed fire safety equipment such as fire extinguishers, circuit breakers, and fire alarm detectors for fire-vulnerable groups, along with training on how to use them.
In addition, Hite Jinro is engaged in various social contribution activities in the firefighting field, including national disaster emergency support, nurturing future firefighters, improving the treatment of deceased firefighters, and safeguarding the mental health of firefighters' families, with efforts gradually expanding.
